A great weekend, part 2

Easter Sunday was a really good day.  John went early to go to worship practice, so Grace and I went by ourselves when it was time for Sunday School. It was POURING rain when I got there! I was met at the car by a couple of gentlemen with umbrellas, who helped me get Grace out of the car without us getting very wet. How sweet of them! Even though I had my own umbrella, it was much easier with their help! By the time we got out of church, the sun was shining! It was a beautiful afternoon!

We were invited to some dear friends' house for an Easter lunch with their family. They used to own a restaurant, so they are very good cooks! We had an incredible pork roast with mashed potatoes, homemade mac and cheese (with all real cheese! No processed cheese product for them!), and greens. We even had cheesecake for dessert! We loved being able to hang out with our friends. Grace loved playing with the dog. When we were getting ready to go, John and Grace headed to the mud room to get her shoes. She got there before John and closed the door! He would try to open it, and she'd slam it in his face! It became a game, with him trying to get in and her closing the door. She was laughing so hard at the game! It was so funny. John outsmarted her by going out the other door and coming in the outside door of the mud room. She loved it! She ran over and try to shut him out, but he beat her. It was so cute to hear her laughing so much.

Grace fell asleep on the way home and enjoyed a long nap. It was a very restful afternoon. We headed over to our neighbor's house to visit. She has become a very good friend to our family and has "adopted" us as her own family. Susie is over 90, and is such a sweet woman! (I think I've mentioned her before in posts.) We decided to let Grace do yet another Easter egg hunt, this time with new eggs that Oma and Opa sent her. Susie came out on the porch and watched as we hunted. She really enjoyed watching. Grace succeeded in getting to eat a lot of chocolate and loved it, of course!

Oma and Opa (John's parents) sent Grace an Easter gift, so we let her open it when she was on webcam with them. They loved seeing her excitement. They gave one of those cards where you can record a message and then it plays a song. Grace loved it! (Susie got a bunch of those for her birthday back in December, and Grace plays with them all the time. Now she has her own!) She kept playing with it all evening. She kept begging for chocolate treats all evening! We had to hide the overabundance of candy she got over the weekend. It'll take a while for her to eat her way through it! (Of course, John and I will probably help!)
